Books — kepubify

Applies to everything dropped in Books_in. Device profiles are a comics feature and never change these settings.

A Kobo recognises .kepub.epub when you copy books to it over USB. Library managers such as Calibre and Calibre-Web-Automated expect .kepub. The .epub option still runs kepubify and contains Kobo enhancements; it only gives the converted book a standard-looking filename. With .epub or .kepub.epub, Books_in and Books_out must not overlap: neither folder can contain the other. Bindery keeps .kepub if you choose one of the others while they overlap, and pauses book conversion if a hand-edited config is already in that state.

Auto lets kepubify apply its own heuristic. Force on fixes layout problems on the first page of some books.

Custom CSS is appended to every book. Replacement rules run on each HTML file; lines without a | separator are ignored.

Bindery Settings

Poll works everywhere including network shares (NFS, SMB). inotify is instant on local filesystems; a 60 s backstop scan covers network mounts and anything else events miss.

How long to wait for a file to finish transferring before skipping it. Dropped folders also wait at least this long after their last change. Increase for slow network drives. Range: 10–300 s.

What happens to each source comic once it converts: delete it, move it into a hidden Comics_in/.archive folder, or keep it exactly where it is. Keep in place is for pointing Comics_in and Comics_out at one folder, so the source sits beside the converted book. Books are always removed after conversion.
